“Truth And Peace: Beyond Fake News and Alternative Facts”
A workshop series program on Media and Information literacy in post truth era
Aim and Objective:
In the time of sheer amount of information that can be called up quickly and easily on the Internet, there is a tension between reality and fiction. This is often expressed in the term fake news. But what exactly is behind it? Are fake news exclusively a phenomenon of the digital age? How can we recognize them? And in general: what distinguishes lies and truth? We want to try to clarify these questions together and show methods how possible lies and fake news can be exposed. It also questions who or what is trustworthy or not and, above all, why? Based on this, the participants are to be guided to critical self-reflection of their own behavioral patterns and their senses are sharpened so that they can not only question information, but also critically review it and examine it for its truthfulness.
This program is designed into three parts. Each part focuses on specific and important attributes of program. The objective behind splitting workshop into three parts is to give participants time and opportunity to apply learning in real life before next part of the workshop.
